The ones who’re vocal and brave enough to pin big suits and different stakeholders in trying to save our green earth. The ones raising a placard at every corner on the street, a tweet at every timeline, a speech at every conference, a message at every merchandise, a campaign in every boardroom.

This is for the women, against all society odds, doing their part in shaping a better future for generations to come. It’s for those who opt for clean energy means in trying to put a plate of food on the table and feed their offspring. Those who ‘bird-box’ charcoal and opt to let the earth breathe, to give our world a second chance. According to a 2017 study, forest degradation alone is responsible for 2.1 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. This is for those trying to reverse that statistic and scale it down.

We celebrate women like @aweko_faith who’re using their art and creativity to recycle plastics into saleable art, plastics into communicating materials, plastics into wearable merchandise, plastics into money. Always defying politicians’ ‘plastic’ smiles. #HappyWomensDay

This is for the women who’re using their art and creativity to make a difference. The ones who’re recycling plastics into saleable art, plastics into communicating materials, plastics into wearable merchandise, plastics into money. Always defying politicians’ ‘plastic’ smiles and empty promises, but keep on doing their part, in their little capacity, to give our world a lifeline.

This is for the women who’re disposing of their masks in the right places. Ever since the pandemic visited this floating rock, we were all subjected to mandatory mask-wearing. Sadly, in the process, we all tried to create another pandemic with our ‘fwaah’ mask disposal. This is to the women who throw their masks in the right dumping places. We highlighted the dangers of masks to our environment here.

We celebrate women like @SandraNabasirye who are using climate-resilient agricultural solutions to feed our nation. Even without the support/financing from the powers that be, they do what needs to be done to ensure food security. You're are the real heroes. #HappyWomensDay

This is for the women in places of authority, mapping out plans on bettering our beloved planet. Those holding big suits accountable, shaking their ‘tables’, lobbying for change, drafting laws, implementing the said laws, all in the fight against the impending/ongoing climate crisis. May your cup never dry and vision never blur. Keep up with the good fight.

This is for the women who’re holding their men accountable for corroding the environment. Those that say, “No, you can’t dump your cigarette butt here. No, you can’t throw your plastic bottle through the window.” The women are unafraid of anything, changing the status quo, never conforming to the norm, and dismantling old-age systems to make our planet a better place to breathe in.

We celebrate women like Beatrice Atim Anywar aka Mama Mabira who are the foundation stones for modern-day climate activism. Women who put up a stand and spoke on behalf of what is left of our forests and wetlands. #HappyWomensDay #ClimateChangeUG

This is for the women who’re breaking the bias.

Happy International Women’s Day.
